“Since 1936 this has been the favorite Espresso of Many Sicilians in
Ybor City, Tampa’s Spanish / Italian neighborhood.
My grandmother Rosina Cacciatore was related by marriage to
Santo Trafficante the alleged Mob Boss of Florida.
I remember as a young boy being dragged by my mother and
grandmother to the Trafficante household where I would sit
patiently eating Italian cookies while the adults socialized
and sipped on the espresso that my grandmother
would bring on her weekly visits.
They really loved that espresso and it soon became the coffee
of choice among the Sicilian families and their associates.
